Belgium ’s Crown Prince Philippe visited Vietnam from March 11-16 during which time the two sides signed a number of cooperative documents.

The documents included a MoU on financial cooperation between the two finance ministries and a protocol on the amendment to the agreement on the double taxation avoidance.

On March 13, the Belgian business delegation, led by Crown Prince Philippe, met with Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien, Transport Minister Dinh La Thang and Finance Minister Vuong Dinh Hue to look at ways of enhancing cooperation between both countries in a number of areas.

Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien said her ministry is willing to work with Belgium in human resources training, traditional medicines, acupuncture, disease prevention, pharmaceuticals and medical equipment.

Transport Minister Dinh La Thang said that he hopes that Vietnam will continue to receive ODA (Official Development Assitance) from Belgium and encouraged Belgian businesses to invest in the country’s transport infrastructure.

In the financial sector, the Crown Prince added that the Belgian government pledges to support Vietnam in the fields of finance and export and provide ODA for Vietnam in the future.

The same day, the Crown Prince attended an education forum during which Minister of Education and Training Pham Vu Luan said the event offers an opportunity for Vietnamese education managers to learn from experience in designing education policies.-VNA
