National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong received a visiting delegation of the Ethnic Affairs Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, led by Vice Chairman Lie Que, in Hanoi on Dec. 7.

Vice Chairwoman Phong affirmed that the Vietnamese Party, State, National Assembly and people always attach importance to developing friendship, neighbourliness and comprehensive cooperation with the Chinese Party, State, parliament and people and consider this as a longterm and consistent policy.

She asked the two sides to boost exchange of visits and experience in ethnic affairs and policymaking, as well as coordinate in activities in the field, to bring benefit to both nations.

For his part, Lie stated his wish and determination to further enhance cooperation between relevant agencies of the parliaments and governments of the two countries.

The two sides discussed measures to strengthen bilateral cooperation in ethnic affairs.

Earlier, the Chinese delegation had a working session with a delegation of the Council of Ethnic Affairs of the National Assembly of Vietnam, led by Chairman K’sor Phuoc.

The two sides exchanged information on the current situation in lawmaking and ethnic policies.

K’sor Phuoc lauded the working visit by the Chinese delegation, which is expected to boost relations between the two countries and parliaments.

He expressed his wish that the two sides will expand cooperation in drafting laws and legal documents relating to ethnic affairs, to ensure the rights and legal benefits of ethnic groups.

Lie affirmed his intention to be ready to carry out exchange activities between the two sides, to contribute to the fine traditional friendship between Vietnam and China. /.
