Vietnam and China have deliberated directions and measures to further deepen their friendly and cooperative relations in all fields, in order to develop their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership in an active, healthy and stable manner.

The fifth session of the Steering Committee for Vietnam-China Bilateral Cooperation in Hanoi on Sept. 6, reviewed the two countries’ bilateral relations over the recent past and highlighted the role of the Steering Committee since it was established in 2006.

Both sides agreed to enhance and improve the committee’s mechanism in the future.

The two sides also exchanged views on issues relating to territory and border, including disputes in the East Sea.

The session was co-chaired by Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan and Chinese State Councillor Dai Bingguo.

Earlier, two secretaries general of the Steering Committee and representatives of the two countries’ relevant ministries, branches and localities held preparatory sessions on Sept. 5 and the morning of Sept. 6. The sessions took place in a frank, friendly and constructive spirit./.
