Vietnamese and Chinese businesses signed economic contracts worth 201 million USD at the Vietnam – China International Trade Fair 2011 that closed on Nov. 16 in the northern border province of Lao Cai .

The six-day event drew the participation of nearly 300 businesses from 20 cities and provinces of the two countries.

On display at over 700 pavilions were handicrafts, electrical appliances, chemicals, clothing, household utensils, farm produce, foodstuff, electronics, equipment, motorbikes, wooden furniture and pharmaceutical products.

The event helped businesses gain nearly 75 billion VND in revenues, mainly from aquatic products, wooden furniture and household utensils.

A seminar on development cooperation between Lao Cai and China ’s Yunnan province was also held.

Nguyen Thanh Duong, Deputy Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee and Head of organising board, said that the two Parties, States and peoples have made efforts to foster Vietnam – China friendship and comprehensive cooperation in the motto of “Friendly neighbourliness, comprehensive cooperation, long-term stability, looking toward the future” and the spirit of “Good neighbours, good friends, good comrades, good partners”.

Duong said that Lao Cai and Yunnan provinces have also hosted many activities to implement policies between Vietnam and China. /.
