Vietnam and France have reached consensus on fighting various crimes and expand cooperation across fields of their needs.

They include organised, transnational, terrorist, drug, cyber, money laundering, human trafficking crimes, illegal immigration, and economic and trade frauds involving Vietnamese and French citizens.

At talks in Paris on November 6, Minister of Public Security, Gen. Tran Dai Quang and French Minister of Interior Bernard Cazeneuve were committed to working together on personnel training, particularly for those mastering computer technology and money laundering practices.

Both sides are due to provide equipment used in fire fighting, search-and-rescue operation and civil defence along with sharing information and professional skills.

They remarked that ties between the Vietnamese and French police are growing based on the 2009 agreement on social order and security, a memorandum of understanding on welcoming back illegal immigrants and an agreement on combating counterfeit consumer goods hazardous to community health.

In a meeting with Chairwoman of the French National Assembly’s National Defence and Armed Forces Committee Patricia Adam, Quang expressed hope for continued assistance to joint work between the two ministries.

Earlier on November 5, Quang laid a wreath at President Ho Chi Minh monument, and visited Ho Chi Minh space in the Museum of Living History in Montreau park, Montreuil city.-VNA
