Vietnamese and Cuban experts are installing a new type of biogas tanks which produce electricity using gas generated from animal waste for farmers in the Latin American country.

Dairom Blanco, a representative of the National Biomas Group of Cuba said at a seminar on gas and power from biowastes that the new polyester-made tanks will be put into use by the end of this year.

Since 2003, Vietnam has helped Cuba popularise the use of biogas in households and cooperatives, Blanco said.

At present, Cuba has over 300 biogas tanks built from brick and cement at State-run cooperatives.
