Vietnam and Slovakia boast great potential for cooperation, said State President Nguyen Minh Triet while receiving Slovak Minister of Economy and Construction Juraj Miskov in Hanoi on April 14.

On the basis of the traditional friendship, Vietnamese and Slovak businesses will have plenty of opportunities to boost cooperation in economics, trade and investment, he said, adding that both countries’ ministries and agencies need to increase exchange of visits and translate high-level policies into specific cooperation.

He affirmed his support for Slovak businesses which come to Vietnam to seek opportunities for cooperation and investment.

Triet thanked Slovakia for supporting Vietnam in settling the anti-dumping lawsuit against its leather-capped shoes in the European market.

Slovak Minister Miskov emphasised the Vietnam visit by the Slovak delegation was a clear indication of the country’s keen interest in enhancing its cooperation with Vietnam in trade and investment.

The opening of embassies in the respective country’s capital city showed a shared aspiration to promote the friendship and bilateral cooperation, he said.

Vietnam is a gate for Slovakia to enter into the ASEAN market and Slovakia is willing to serve as a link to help Vietnam penetrate markets of European Union countries, the minister said.

He affirmed Slovakia ’s support for Vietnam in relations with the EU. Slovakia highly valued Vietnam ’s achievements in economic development and social welfare, the minister said./.
