Vietnam welcomed Japan’s decision to conduct consultations with members of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement in a move to join the TPP talks, Vietnamese Foreign Ministry spokesman Luong Thanh Nghi said.

Spokesman Nghi made the statement on Nov. 14 while answering reporters’ question on Vietnam’s viewpoint on Japan’s Nov. 11 announcement of its decision to consult with TPP members on entering TPP talks.

“As one of major economies, with an important role in the Asia-Pacific region and the world, we believe that Japan’s participation will be an active factor to promote the TPP talks and contribute to deepening the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan,” said the spokesman./.
