The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) held a ceremony on November 2 to inaugurate its National News Centre in Hanoi . Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan attended the event.

Work on the centre first started in June 2007. Built on a site of nearly 2,800 m2, the centre has 11 floors above ground and two basements.

It is equipped with the latest communications systems and meets the demands of a modern State news agency, in the context of the rapid development of international and domestic communications.

Speaking at the event, Deputy PM Nhan praised the achievements the VNA and its staff have made over the past 67 years.

He said that he hopes the VNA, as the national news agency and strategic information centre for the Party and State, will harvest even greater achievements in the future and provide the latest and most accurate information on the country’s socio-economic development to the public.

For his part, VNA General Director Nguyen Duc Loi stated that the centre creates the ideal conditions that enable the agency to fulfil their tasks entrusted by the Party and State, and assert itself as a strong and prestigious national news agency in the region and around the world./.VNA
