Representatives of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) and the Association of Agent Orange Victims of the Mekong delta city of Can Tho made pre-Tet visits to families of AO victims in the locality on Feb. 2.

On the trip, VNA representatives presented gift boxes provided by the agency’s Relief Fund for AO Victims to two families of AO victims. The fund will give out gifts worth 500,000 each to ten families in Can Tho on the occasion of the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival.

This is the second year VNA’s Relief Fund for AO Victims jointly held the event with the local association presenting Tet gifts to AO victims in Can Tho to partly help them enjoy the traditional Lunar New Year festival.

Established in 2006, the VNA’s Relief Fund for AO Victims has so far provided aid for nearly 2,000 AO victims in 63 cities and provinces nationwide.

According to the Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange, up to 4.8 million Vietnamese people have been exposed to AO, including 3 million victims suffering from the affects of the deadly chemical./.
