The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) has organised a wide range of charity activities in support for Agent Orange/dioxin victims nationwide on the occasion of the Agent Orange Day, which falls on August 10.

A total of 601 million VND plus 22 wheelchairs, two houses and a laptop have been presented to the victims, through the VNA’s Relief Fund for AO Victims.

Of the total, ten AO victims in Lap Thach district, Vinh Phuc province received five million VND and two wheelchairs while victims in the northern province of Ninh Binh received five million VND and ten wheelchairs.

The fund also handed over 20 million VND to ten former members of the youth volunteer force who were afflicted by AO in the central province of Quang Tri . $0 $0 In the central province of Thanh Hoa, the fund presented a laptop to Le Van Viet, who has just graduated from Hong Duc University, and two million VND for Le Thi Tham, a 7 th grader. The provincial association of AO victims also got 50 million and five wheelchairs.

Other provinces receiving presents include Bac Giang, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Hai Duong and Hai Phong.

On the occasion, through VNA’s 57 domestic bureaus, the fund presented 486 million VND and several houses for victims in provinces of Lao Cai and Thai Nguyen, raising the total number of houses the agency has built to 17.

Currently, the fund is continuing to mobilise support from individuals and organisations both inside and outside the country. In one noteworthy donation, the Greek Embassy in Vietnam contributed 745 million VND and 90 wheelchairs./.
