Vietnam News Agency (VNA) wishes for further cooperation with media organisations of the Republic of Korea (RoK) to better cater for the two peoples’ demand for information.

VNA General Director Nguyen Duc Loi expressed the hope during a meeting with a delegation from the Journalist Association of Korea (JAK) in Hanoi on August 22.

During the meeting, the General Director briefed the guests on some general information on the building and development of the VNA as the mouthpiece of the Vietnamese Government over the past 70 years.

He highlighted the fruitful cooperative ties between the VNA and RoK’s Yonhap News Agency with exchanges of information and high ranking delegations over the last 20 years.

At the most recent meeting between the two new agencies, both sides agreed that they have met the information demand in the context of the growing development in Vietnam-RoK relations.

After the debut of the Vietnam-Korea Times - the first Korean language newspaper in Vietnam - in early 2013, the release of VNA’s Tin Tuc daily in the RoK will enhance information links between the two peoples as well as tighten the Vietnam-RoK friendship and cooperation, he said.

JAK President Park Chong Ryul said the association’s visit aimed to learn about Vietnam and its people, as well as its achievements in culture, economics, politics and the newspaper industry to introduce to the RoK people.

Park spoke highly of VNA’s role and pledged to pass on its desire for cooperation to local media organisations when returning to the RoK.

He expressed his belief that the relationship between the JAK and the Vietnam Journalist Association (VJA) will grow in the coming time.

Participants at the meeting also discussed matters of mutual concern, particularly in the field of journalism.

Earlier on August 21, the delegation met with VJA President and Nhan Dan Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Thuan Huu.

The two sides shared the view that the JAK delegation’s visit, which is in the context of the upcoming visit to Vietnam by RoK President Park Geun-hye in September, will contribute to consolidating the friendship between the two countries.-VNA
