Vu A Dinh scholarship fund has been honoured with the Labour Order, first class, for its support to ethnic minority students across the country.

Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan presented the accolade to Truong My Hoa, Chairwoman of the fund at a ceremony held in Ho Chi Minh City on June 21 celebrating the 15 th founding anniversary of the fund and the 65 th commemorative anniversary of ethnic hero Vu A Dinh, who lost his life to the anti-French war.

Established in 1999, the fund has given scholarships to 50,000 ethnic minority students, built eight schools, 10 bridges, and 35 houses for the poor.

It also has raised fund to build two elementary schools on Truong Sa Lon and Sin Ton islands, the central province of Khanh Hoa.

Also the same day, its money has reached out to 265 ethnic minority students in the city, as part of its plan to offer 5,000 scholarships to excellent students during the 2013-2014 academic year.-VNA
