Khanh Hoa (VNA) – The central coastal province of Khanh Hoa’s People’s Committee held a working session with a delegation from the World Bank (WB) on an environmental sanitation project in Nha Trang City on November 20.

According to the draft Memorandum of Understanding, the project has a total investment of 72 million USD. The WB will provide 60.9 million USD in loans for the work.

The project comprises four parts: sanitation infrastructure, environmental infrastructure, resettlement and site clearance, and technical assistance and regulation reform.

A representative from the province’s project management board said the project will serve 90,000 people in the northern part of the city by addressing floodingissues related to submerged water, pollution, sewage collection and treatment in areas near the Cai river valley.

Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Le Duc Vinh highlighted that the province will complete all needed procedures with a view to starting the project as soon as possible.

The financial credit agreement for the project is expected to be signed by April 2017.

Between 2007 and 2014, the WB provided loans for another project on improving environmental sanitation in the city. The project has proved its effectiveness on flooding, sewage treatment and improving the environment in the southern part of the city.-VNA
