The Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) and the Investment Construction and Trading Limited Company No.36 on Feb. 7 jointly held a ground breaking ceremony for an air traffic control centre in Hanoi.

Invested by VATM with a total capital of 750 billion VND and covering an area of almost 20,600 sq.m in Long Bien district, the project aims to replace the existing centre, which is technologically backward and out of date.

The new centre will have an administration building and a three-storey air traffic control tower.

Once completed and put into operation, the centre is expected to assist the operation of the air approach control centre in the Noi Bai International Airport , ensuring safety and effectiveness for aeronautical activities within Hanoi area.

The project is scheduled to be completed before May, 2014./.
