Energy saving and climate change reduction were the focus of a workshop in central Hue city, Thua Thien-Hue province, on November 14.

Participants stressed the need for enhancing State management, stepping up communication efforts and involving all stakeholders in this field.

They also suggested the development of effective equipment and devices to save energy, as well as alternative energy sources such as wind and solar power.

A number of activities, including an exhibition on energy-saving cooking devices, models for growing clean vegetables, biogas technology, and solar power systems were also organised as part of the workshop.

The event was part of the Norwegian Church Aid Vietnam (NCA)–funded project to enhance the capacity for climate change mitigation and adaptation in vulnerable areas in Thua-Thien Hue province, such as Hue city and Phong Dien district.

The project runs until the end of 2014 at total cost of 650 million VND (31,000 USD).-VNA
