Vietnamese wrestlers on December 12 pocketed four gold medals at the ongoing 27th Southeast Asian Games in Myanmar.

In the men’s 66kg category, Bui Anh Tuan won the victory after defeating his Filipino rival 7-0 while his teammate Nguyen The Anh outplayed his Indonesian competitor to grab a gold in the men’s 60kg.

Nguyen Huy Ha, 55kg, overwhelmed his opponent to win glory and Nguyen Thi Lua brought the fourth gold to Vietnam by crushing the host’s player in the women’s 51kg.

The same day, badminton players Nguyen Tien Minh and Vu Thi Trang knocked out their Thai and Singaporean rivals to enter the men’s singles and women’s singes semi-finals on December 13.

These results placed Vietnam second with 14 golds, 6 silvers, and 9 bronzes by 5.30 pm on the same day. Host Myanmar continued to secure the first spot with 20 gold, 12 silver and 10 bronze medals.

Vietnam set a goal of earning at least 70 gold medals at this Games, which will last until December 22.-VNA
