Construction of the SC VivoCity commercial centre started on Mar. 16 on Nguyen Van Linh boulevard of Ho Chi Minh City.

Covering an area of 70,000 sq.m, the commercial centre is jointly invested by the Saigon Co.op Group and the Temasek finance and investment Group, two leading groups in the real estate and retail sectors of Vietnam and Singapore , with a total capital of 100 million USD.

HOK, one of the leading design groups of the United States and the world, is responsible for all design, architecture and decoration of the centre.

The centre is part of the 360 million USD Saigon South Place project and it will be a place for famous fashion trademarks, modern cinemas, entertainment and education.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of the HCM City People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Hong and Singaporean Ambassador to Vietnam Simon Wong Wie Kuen expressed their hopes that the project will boost trade activities in Vietnam and gradually upgrade domestic commercial centres to the standard of leading regional countries.-VNA
