As many as 117 best entries to the 7th National Press Awards 2012 will be honoured at a ceremony in Hanoi on June 21 to mark the 88th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day.

The contest’s organisers announced at a meeting on June 2 that the event will be broadcast live on Vietnam Television and Voice of Vietnam radio, according to Nhan Dan Newspaper Online.

The top 117 works, including five ‘A’, 28 ‘B’ and 45 ‘C’ award winners, as well as 39 consolation prizes, were selected from 160 final entries.

The prize winning works reflect Vietnam’s socio-economic and cultural development, as well as its national politics and security.

They also highlight exemplary role models who have helped reduce poverty in remote areas, promote national construction and defence, overcome natural disaster consequences and fight corruption.-VNA
