A 121-year-old woman in Ho Chi Minh City has been recognised as the oldest woman in Vietnam and is likely to break the world record.
Nguyen Thi Tru was born on May 4, 1893 and is residing in Da Phuoc communes, Binh Chanh district.
Representatives from the Vietnam Book of Records on July 22 presented her with the record certificate.
She has 11 children and is now living with the family of the youngest, who is 72 years old.
Tru said her recipe for longevity is to lead a happy, peaceful life, eat meals on time and help others.
In 2011, she was also confirmed as the holder of this record.
The oldest woman in the world at present is Misao Okawa, 116, from Japan.
The Vietnam Book of Records is expected to submit the case of Tru to the Guinness World Records for the record recognition.-VNA
