Forty nine cases and 67 people suspected of corruption have been discovered after the loss of 132.7 billion VND. This follows investigations that have been ongoing since the start of this year, announced the Government Inspectorate.

Of this sum, 60.2 billion VND was returned as eight collectives and 29 individuals had been handled administratively. Another 27 cases and 35 suspects have been passed to the criminal investigation agency.

Many ministries, agencies and localities have detected and handled corruption such as the State Bank of Vietnam and cities and provinces, including Hanoi, Hai Phong, Nghe An, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, Kien Giang and Tien Giang.

The investigation agency has investigated 248 cases with 572 people involved and the total loss of 657.9 billion VND and 1.2 million USD.

Of this total, 13.05 billion VND has been returned to the State budget.

So far the investigation agency has proposed prosecution against 260 people involved in 102 cases. Another 136 cases and 292 suspects are under investigation.

Over the past six months, the inspection sector has carried out 6,065 inspections into 333,000 organisations and individuals.

After the inspections, 6.48 trillion VND and 1,290 hectares of land were returned to State and 425 collectives and 697 individuals received administrative fines. Another 27 cases and 35 suspects have been passed to the criminal investigation agency.

The inspection sector has now stepped up its operations, especially in areas of public concern, to ensure transparency when dealing with complaints and accusations while promoting the introduction of anti-corruption measures at all levels and branches.-VNA
