13th NA’s first session to open on July 21

The first session of the 13 th National Assembly will open in Hanoi on July 21 and close on August 6. It will spend 11 days on organisation and personnel work.

According to Vice Chairman of the NA Office Nguyen Si Dung, the first session will hear the Election Council’s report on the results of the elections of deputies to the 13 th NA and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2011-2016 tenure and the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s report on voters’ opinions during the past 13 th NA election.

The session will elect Chairperson and Vice Chairpersons of the NA, and members of the NA Standing Committee, the State President and Vice State President, the Prime Minister, the Chief Judge of the Supreme People’s Court, and the Head of the Supreme People’s Procuracy.

The NA will consider and approve the nominations of Deputy Prime Ministers and other Government members, Vice President and members of the Defence and Security Council.

Regarding legal work, the legislative body will consider and approve a resolution on the 2012 Law and Ordinance Building Programme and a resolution on a policy to make supplementations and amendments to the 1992 Constitution and the establishment of a committee in charge of drafting amendments to the 1992 Constitution.

During the session, the NA will hear and discuss reports on the implementation of socio-economic development plans and the State budget in the first half of 2011, and measures to implement socio-economic development plans and the State budget in the second half of the year, as well as approve the State budget balance for 2009.

The NA will consider and adopt a resolution on the supplementation of several tax directives which aim to solve difficulties for businesses and individuals.

Regarding preparations for the 13 th NA first session, NA Office Chairman Tran Dinh Dan said that the NA Office had coordinated with relevant agencies to organise three training courses for NA deputies in the three regions of the country to equip them with comprehensive knowledge on the structure, organisation, position, role and apparatus of the NA.

The opening and closing ceremonies and sessions discussing the implementation of socio-economic development plans and the State budget in the first half of 2011 and measures to implement socio-economic development plans and the State budget in the last six months of the year will be broadcast live on VTV1 and VOV1 television channels./.
