Police in the northwestern mountainous province of Son La seized 160 cakes—or about 56 kilograms—of heroin in a drug ring crackdown.

On May 3, police forces discovered a group of 28 armed suspects illegally transporting drugs across the border.

The subjects resisted their arrest violently, leading relevant authorities to return fire, leading to the death of one of the suspects. The others escaped across the border.

At the scene, the task force seized 3 AK rifles, one carbine, and 85 rounds of ammunition along with the drugs.

Relevant agencies are continuing their investigation into the case.-VNA
