The Vietnam Red Cross (VRC) said it collected more than 188 billion VND in cash and goods during the charity campaign to help the poor and Agent Orange (AO) victims enjoy the Lunar New Year Festival.

In a report released on March 15, VRC said with the donations, its chapters at all levels provided aid to a total of 832,260 poor households and families of AO victims.

Part of the money was used to build houses and buy buffaloes, cows and production tools for the beneficiary people, VRC said.

Since the campaign was first launched in 1999, VRC chapters at all levels across the country raised almost 557 billion VND and supported more than 5.1 million of poor households and families of AO victims during the Tet festivals./.
