On the afternoon of October 12, the Hanoi Medical University and the Institute for Preventive Medicine and Public Health held a graduation ceremony for 21 students of the Master of Public Health – 6th International Program.

The training program, organized by the Institute for Preventive Medicine and Public Health, is the first and only regular English-taught program in the university system of medicine and pharmacy in Vietnam.

Participating in the 6th international master's program in public health are 21 students, including 18 Vietnamese, 2 from Myanmar, and 1 from Brazil.

This 6th course attracts a large number of international students applying from many countries from Southeast Asia, the UK, the US, Tanzania, Brazil, Liberia, Ghana.... However, due to the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, the admission of international students has been affected.

The 1-year study program with 12 subjects and the graduation thesis has been carried out as planned. Most of the subjects in the year are supported by international experts from American and Australian universities, and by international experts in Vietnam, both face-to-face and online.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Professor, Dr. Nguyen Huu Tu, Rector of the Hanoi Medical University, said that the program was carefully prepared. Hanoi Medical University is the ideal learning environment to implement such programs, added Professor, Dr. Nguyen Huu Tu.

Professor, Dr. Le Thi Huong, Director of the Institute for Preventive Medicine and Public Health, affirmed that the new international masters deserve today's results, because they have worked hard and tried to learn and practice, especially having overcome the difficult period of the COVID-19 pandemic when having to study online with the difference of time zones between different countries.

Professor, Dr. Le Thi Huong hopes that in the future, new masters will bring their existing knowledge to serve their work well.

On behalf of the lecturers of the International Master of Public Health, 6th term, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Thuy Hanh assessed: "All of you have a good and hard-working attitude. I hope that with the knowledge, skills and competencies that you gain from this professional training, you will have great knowledge in your future journey."

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the sponsors, Ms. Cait Unites, Deputy Director of USAID's health programs in Vietnam, said: “USAID has supported the One Health Network of Vietnamese Universities (VOHUN) and a master's program in public health - an international program in Vietnam since its inception for more than 10 years. The success of the program is the result of the commitment of the administrators and lecturers of Hanoi Medical University, support from the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education and Training. We are very proud to have played a part in the success of the program.”

At the graduation ceremony, representatives of international students also expressed their gratitude to the lecturers at the Institute for Preventive Medicine and Public Health.

Participants said the course was very useful in providing knowledge on research methods, organization and management of health and community health care. In addition to the knowledge learned, students also improved their English skills through the course.

The international public health training program has been implemented since 2017, attracting many international students to Vietnam to study. Up to now, the program has trained 110 students, including 36 international students./.
