Quang Tri (VNA) – As many as 26 sets of remains of martyrs, who were Vietnamese voluntary soldiers and experts laying down their lives during wartime in Laos, were unearthed and collected during the dry season from October 2018 to May 2019.

They were retrieved in the Lao province of Savannakhet by search team 584 under the Military High Command of central Quang Tri province.

The team reported on May 3 that identities of remains are still unknown.

On May 7, a memorial service for martyrs will be held at Densava pagoda in Savannakhet.

The Vietnamese side will receive martyrs’ remains at Lao Bao international border gate in Quang Tri on May 8, which then will be taken to national martyrs’ cemetery in Dong Ha city for burial.

Quang Tri and Savannakhet provinces agreed to continue accelerating search and collection of remains of Vietnamese voluntary soldiers and experts who lost their lives in battlefields in Laos during the 2019-2020 dry season, in accordance with the agreement between the two governments’ special working committees.-VNA
