Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan, chairman of the State Council of Professor Title congratulated 71 professors and 517 associate professors and expressed his desire that they will bring their intelligence and passion into play to develop education and training, and scientific research in Vietnam, contributing to the country’s industrialisation, modernisation, and international integration.
He also suggested that professors and associate professors nationwide take the lead in promoting tertiary education, advanced level training and scientific research.
In the 1980-1985 period, Vietnam awarded the titles of professor and associate professors to 142 people per year while in the 1991-2000 period, the number was 454.
At present, there are about 9,000 professors and associate professors nationwide, of whom 1,407 are professors./.
