About 40 km from the center of Phu Ly city (Ha Nam province), in Hoa Hau commune, Ly Nhan district, a famous old mansion lies, which is considered the original model of the Ba Kien Mansion in the famous work “Chi Pheo” by the late writer Nam Cao, a Vietnamese satirical classic about the stormy lives of northern farmers in colonial-feudal society.

The Ba Kien Mansion is situated on a land plot occupying nearly 900 square meters in Dai Hoang village, Hoa Hau commune (Ly Nhan district, Ha Nam province).

The first owner of the house was Tran Duy Hanh, a wealthy merchant. In the 1910s, he hired more than 20 talented carpenters from Cao Da, Ly Nhan to work on the construction. It took several months for the project to complete./.
