The importance of corporate governance in ensuring sustainable growth was stressed at a seminar held in HCM City on June 17.

The seminar was part of the four-party cooperation agreement between the Vietnam Association of Certified Practicing Accountants (VACPA), CPA Australia, Swinburne University of Technology and the National University of Economics.

The seminar provides members of VACPA and CPA Australia, who work for international and local auditing firms, multinational and local companies, the opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of the importance of good corporate governance in Vietnam .
“Good corporate governance is critical for long-term business success and sustainable growth,” said Paul Wappett, executive general manager of International Development –CPA Australia.

It reduces a business’ vulnerability during a financial crisis and boosts investor confidence, he added.

CPA Australia is a member of the Australian Stock Exchange Corporate Governance Council which developed the principles of Good Corporate Governance.
It will mark next month the first anniversary of its presence in Vietnam , focusing on expanding membership, improving services for 130 existing members and enhancing the capability of the accounting profession in Vietnam .

The seminar will be held again on June 25 in Hanoi./.
