A photo exhibition highlighting the culture, tourism and relations between Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia and Venezuela opened in Venezuela on October 7.

The event is co-hosted by the ASEAN Committee in Caracas (ACC) that groups the three above-said Southeast Asian countries, and the host Foreign Ministry.

Before the start of the event, participants observed a minute of silence in memory of Vietnamese General Vo Nguyen Giap, who passed away on October 4.

Forty-five pictures on show feature a dynamic ASEAN that is accelerating the establishment of an ASEAN Community by 2015.

The week-long event aims to enhance the relations, friendship and mutual understanding between ASEAN member countries, especially those from the ACC, and Venezuela, said Vietnamese Ambassador to Venezuela Ngo Tien Dung.

He further said that the bloc hopes to further develop multi-faceted cooperative ties with Venezuela and the Common Market of the South (MERCOSUR) chaired by the country.

Deputy Chairwoman of the Cultural Association under the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry Elena Gil spoke highly of the close traditional friendship between the ACC and Venezuela, saying that she hopes both sides will intensify their links in culture, arts, and tourism.-VNA
