A series of significant activities have been held nationwide the mark the 50 th year when Agent Orange (AO)/dioxin began to be sprayed over areas of Vietnam , August 10, 1961.

According to the Vietnam Red Cross (VRC), a walk for AO victims will take place in Hanoi on August 7, drawing the participation of around 5,000 people.

In the central coastal province of Khanh Hoa , a large-scale arts programme entitled “Ease the AO pains, bring dreams to life” will be held at the April 2 Square on August 10.

The programme will include an arts exhibition showcasing 50 photos and objects reflecting the pain and losses of war along with destructive remnants of AO. A painting contest for children who are the victims of this toxic chemical, and a kite performance on Nha Trang beach will also be held as part of the programme.

Between July 28 and August 3, the Ba Ria -Vung Tau Association of AO/dioxin Victims presented 100 televisions and 44 gifts worth 1 million VND each to local AO victims.

The Vietnamese embassies in many countries such as Italy , Germany and Russia have also held various activities to raise funds for AO victims./.
