More than 200 women selected from all the 63 provinces and cities nationwide will gather at a conference to honour outstanding businesswomen in Hanoi on October 2.

On the same day, a forum will be held to help women better their role as business leaders, boost gender equality in business, as well as honour their initiatives and creativeness in their works.

Five outstanding collectives and 10 individuals will be announced at the 2013 Vietnamese Women awarding ceremony, which will be broadcast live.

An exhibition highlighting women’s initiatives and creative works in the economic sector, which have been successfully applied in the reality, will be organised at the Vietnamese Women’s Museum throughout October.

The event is part of activities to mark the 2013 Vietnamese Women’s Innovation Day co-organised by the Vietnam’s Women Union, the World Bank and the UN Women Vietnam Country Office, with the aim of encouraging initiatives to raise the power and economic capacity of Vietnamese women.

Also at the Vietnamese Women’s Museum from September 27 to October 6, high-quality products by women-owned businesses in the garment and textile, handicraft and agricultural product processing sectors will be put on display.

These activities aim to celebrate the 83rd founding anniversary of the Vietnam Women’s Union and the Vietnamese Women’s Day (October 20).-VNA
