The Ministry of Health (MoH) on October 4 confirmed 25 more cases of A/H1N1 infection, bringing the nation’s total number of patients to 9,562.

By 5.00 pm on Oct. 4, the A/H1N1 flu hit 59 provinces and cities nationwide, claiming 20 lives. However, the MoH has not yet confirmed the 19 th and 20 th deaths from the flu although they were tested positive for the A/H1N1 virus.

The 19 th victim, died on Oct. 2, was a driver in Ho Chi Minh City who was suffering serious heart diseases. The next, a 63-year-old man in northern Thanh Hoa province, was hospitalised with breathing troubles and then died of serious pulmonary tuberculosis and respiratory failure one day later.

The MoH also reported that 8,352 A/H1N1 patients have to date been discharged from hospital while the remaining cases are under treatment and in stable health condition.

According to the World Health Organisation, there have been 343,298 cases tested positive for the A/H1N1 virus in the world so far, including 4,108 deaths./.
