The Vietnam Airlines flight VN8675 carrying 292 Vietnamese guest workers from Algeria ’s Hassi Messaoud Airport landed at the Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi at 12:40 hrs on March 13.

The returnees worked for a Tunisian company in Libya and were sent by two Vinaconex affiliates, namely Vinaconexmec and Vinacomex.

By this time, the campaign to bring more than 10,000 Vietnamese guest workers in Libya home has basically been completed with 9,087 people had returned home safely by air. The remaining over 1,000 people are on the way home on sea route.

Nguyen Ngoc Quynh, Director of the Overseas Labour Management Department under the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA), said he and Vinaconexmex representatives arrived in the Hassi Messaoud Airport to pick up the workers home.

He highly valued the assistance of the Algerian Government and relevant agencies for Vietnamese citizens, especially in the evacuation of all the 292 workers from remote Ain Amenas town to the Hassi Messaoud Airport .

Next week, the MoLISA will submit measures to support the repatriated workers to the Government for consideration, Quynh said, adding that the policies will focus on workers from poor areas and those who worked in Libya for less than one year.

According to Vinaconexmec Deputy Director Ngo Xuan Huy, the company has already brought home over 2,300 out of its total 3,000 workers in Libya . The remaining 700 people are expected to return home by sea on March 24./.
