Vu Minh Tuan put Vietnam ahead after 27 minutes with a low shot and striker Le Cong Vinh doubled the advantage with a close-range tap six minutes from time before midfielder Nguyen Huy Hung wrapped up the victory with the third in the dying moments of the games.
With Indonesia losing 4-0 to the Philippines, Vietnam now need only one point from the last group game against the Philippines to reach the semi-final stage.
Earlier at the opening Group A match on November 22, hosts Vietnam held a 2-2 draw with Indonesia.
The 2014 AFF Suzuki Cup is co-hosted by Vietnam and Singapore from November 22 to December 20.
Games of Group A that includes Laos, the Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam are staged in Hanoi. Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, and host Singapore are placed in Group B.
The semifinal and final games of the tournament will take place from December 6 to 20.-VNA
