Six world famous films were screened at the two-day African Film Festival which opened at the People's Police Academy in Hanoi on October 12.

The event saw the attendance of the ambassadors of Algeria, Nigeria, Mozambique, Sudan and South Africa to Vietnam.

Deputy Head of the Academy Colonel Pham Ngoc Ha said the festival is a good opportunity for the academy’s lecturers and students to learn more about the land, history, culture and people of Africa.

The most notable documentary is The Battle of Algiers, a 1966 war film based on events during the Algerian War against the French occupation in North Africa (1954–1962).

South African Ambassador to Vietnam, Ratubatsi Super Moloi, said he hopes the film festival will reaffirm the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and African countries.-VNA
