- Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son stressed the importanceof dialogue, trust, and sense of responsibility while attending the East AsiaSummit (EAS) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Phnom Penh on August 5. 

The event took place as part of the 55th ASEAN ForeignMinisters’ Meeting (AMM-55) and related meetings in the capital city ofCambodia. - Joining the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)was the first step of Vietnam in the process of international integration, andthe bloc has served as a gateway for the country’s integration into the regionand the world, an official has said.

- Dr Jonathan Choi, Chairman of the Hong Kong-based Sunwah Group, has expressedhis optimism about Vietnam’s future, saying the country has recovered “veryquickly” after the COVID-19 pandemic was controlled and is one of the bestperformers in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in this regard.

In an interview granted to the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) inHanoi on August 5, Choi said Vietnam has made a good decision on the pandemicas the country opened doors right after the situation got better. Read full story

- The Vietnamese economy is likely to grow 10% year on yearin the third quarter of this year, driven by strong domestic consumption,according to Michael Kokalari, chief economist at VinaCapital, one of thecountry’s leading investment management and real estate development companies.

Earnings growth are expected to exceed 20% this year,Kokalari said in a report entitled “The divergence between Vietnam’s strongeconomy & weak stock market,” which outlines expectation for Vietnam’seconomy in the last five months of 2022. Standing Vice Secretary of the Party Committee of Thanh Hoa province Nguyen Hong Phong said immediately after the Party Central Committee released its draft documents, the provincial Party Committee’s standing board promptly directed in-depth study and review, while convening extensive consultations across Party committees, organisations, agencies, units, and localities. Discussions proceeded in a democratic and scientific spirit, closely tied to the practical development needs of both the province and the country, effectively harnessing collective wisdom and the strong sense of responsibility among officials and Party members.

Politburo member Nguyen Van Nen, who is also a standing member of the subcommittee responsible for drafting the Congress documents, said one of the most important and breakthrough innovations in document crafting is the early rollout of new policy decisions and strategies before the Congress convenes. These have been tested in practice and refined through lessons drawn from 40 years of Doi Moi (renewal), before being distilled and embedded into the draft documents for consideration and adoption at the landmark gathering.

14th National Party Congress: Public expectations for new Party policies
