Hanoi (VNA) - The following is a brief review of the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.

- President Nguyen Xuan Phuc expressed his hope for closer and more effective cooperation between the Supreme People’s Court of Vietnam and the Supreme Court of Korea while receiving Minister of the National Court Administration of the Republic of Korea (RoK) Kim Sang-hwan in Hanoi on December 9.

At the meeting, President Phuc lauded the two supreme courts for their contributions to cooperation between the two countries since the establishment of diplomatic ties 30 years ago. Read full story

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam arrived at Luxembourg-Findel International Airport on December 9 morning (local time), starting an official visit to Luxembourg at the invitation of PM Xavier Bettel.

PM Chinh and the delegation were welcomed at the airport by Luxembourg Ambassador to Vietnam Patrich Hammer, Chief of Protocol of the Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs Olivier Baldauff, and Vietnamese Ambassador to Luxembourg Nguyen Van Thao, among others.Read full story

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s visits to Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Belgium are expected to open up new opportunities for Vietnam to foster partnership with the three European countries, according to experts.

- Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Quang Hieu paid a visit to Jordan from December 7-8 to consolidate and foster cooperation between Vietnam and the Middle East nation.

While in Jordan, the Deputy FM held talks with Secretary General of the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Leena Al-Hadid, and had working sessions with Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply Dana Al-Zoubi and Secretary General of the Ministry of Investment Zaher Al-Qatarneh. Read full story

- The adoption by most nations of the world of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) 40 years ago, was a “vital step to bring governance and order” to the vast collective treasure that is the ocean, said UN Secretary-General António Guterres.

He made the remark while addressing a UN General Assembly meeting marking the 40th anniversary of the adoption of UNCLOS in New York on December 8. Read full story

- Vietnam’s Quang Binh AMI Renewables Investment Joint Stocks Company and the Government of Laos on December 8 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on a feasibility study on a wind farm development project in Laos’ Savannakhet province.

Under the 24-month MoU, in the first stage, the company will conduct a feasibility study on a 252 MW wind farm project in an area of nearly 2,700 ha in the province’s Sepon district.Read full story

- A forum was held in the central province of Quang Nam to support small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) of the Republic of Korea (RoK) to expand investment and business opportunities in Vietnam.

The Baekdu Forum 2022 was jointly held by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business (KBIZ) with the support of the Saigon Telecommunication & Technologies Corporation (SaigonTel). Read full story

- Inner West Council in Sydney, Australia’s New South Wales, on December 8 announced the name “Little Vietnam” for an area where many Vietnamese Australians are living.

The area is located along Illawarra Street from the intersection with Marrickville Road to Warren Road. Read full story

- The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) on December 8 announced that it will sell tickets for the matches between Vietnam and Malaysia and Myanmar in the group stage of the AFF Cup 2022 at My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi, from December 10.

Ticket prices for the upcoming matches range from 300,000 VND (12.6 USD) to 600,000 VND (25.2 USD). The VFF will sell tickets via online registration on app VinID. Each person can buy up to 4 tickets per match./.Read full story
