Hanoi (VNA) – The following is a brief review of the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on February 27 chaired a meeting between standing Cabinet members and domestic small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to identify and address challenges and obstacles facing the firms, and outline strategies for them to thrive and contribute to the country's rapid and sustainable growth.

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on February 27 requested state-owned enterprises (SOEs) to contribute more to the rapid, strong and sustainable development of the economy so as to help Vietnam take off in the coming years.

Addressing a conference between permanent Cabinet members and leaders from SOEs on measures to achieve the double-digit growth target, Chinh lauded the firms' significant contributions to stabilising the macroeconomy, boosting growth, and ensuring major economic balances over the past period, and to the state budget. - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his New Zealand counterpart Christopher Luxon visited Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam (Temple of Literature Complex) in Hanoi on February 27, as part of the latter's ongoing official visit to Vietnam.

The two leaders toured significant historical sites within the complex, including Dai Trung Mon (Great Middle Gate), Khue Van Cac (the pavilion of the constellation of literature), doctoral steles, and the statue of Chu Van An, a revered teacher of Vietnam. They also enjoyed a performance of quan ho, a form of folk singing charactised by a duet format, recognised by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Read full story

- The retail prices of petrol were revised down on February 27 following the latest adjustment by the Ministries of Industry and Trade, and Finance.

Specifically, the price of E5RON92 bio-fuel was priced at 20,658 VND (0.81 USD) per litre, down 197 VND from the previous baseline, while that of RON95-III decreased to 21,112 VND per litre, down 219 VND. Read full story

- Vietnam strives to complete 995,445 social housing apartments in the 2025-2030 period, according to the Prime Minister’s decision on social housing criteria in localities’ socio-economic development.

Specifically, localities nationwide are assigned to complete 100,275 apartments in 2025; 116,347 in 2026; 148,343 in 2027; 172,402 in 2028; 186,917 in 2029; and 271,161 in 2030. Read full story.

- The medical centre on Truong Sa island has provided emergency treatment for a fisherman who suffered a stroke while working at sea.

The patient, Pham Van Trinh, born in 1988 and a resident of Thanh Hai commune, Ninh Hai district, south central province of Ninh Thuan, is the captain of the fishing vessel NT 91429TS./. Read full story

Vietnam commits to promoting, protecting human rights

In 2025, Vietnam will conduct dialogues on its national reports regarding the implementation of key international human rights treaties, including the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), and the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).
