- With 466 yes votes from the 472 National Assembly (NA) deputies, or 94.33%, the 15th NA adopted the Law on Cooperatives (revised) on June 20 as part of the ongoing fifth session. The law, comprising 12 chapters and 115 articles, will take effect from July 1, 2024. Read full story
- The state visit to Vietnam by President of the Republic of Korea (RoK) Yoon Suk Yeol from June 22 -24 at the invitation of President Vo Van Thuong is a vivid testament to the special importance given by the Korean government and the President himself to the bilateral relationship, a Vietnamese diplomat has said. - Vietnamese Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang has hailed the United Nations' adoption of the agreement on the conservation and sustainable use of marine biological diversity of areas beyond national jurisdiction (the high seas treaty).
The agreement under the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) was adopted at the Intergovernmental Conference on Marine Biodiversity of Areas beyond National Jurisdiction in New York on June 19. Read full story

- The National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control has agreed with the Health Ministry’s proposal of bringing the COVID-19 from a Class A infectious disease, deemed as “especially dangerous”, to Class B "dangerous".
Class A infectious diseases are those with high infection and fatality rates, like polio, influenza A-H5N1, plague, smallpox, Ebola, Lassa and Marburg hemorrhagic fever, West Nile fever, yellow fever and cholera. Read full story
- Foreign suppliers have paid more than 7.36 trillion VND (312.8 million USD) worth of taxes through an electronic portal dedicated to them from March 21, 2022, according to the General Department of Taxation (GDT). Of the total, over 3.9 trillion VND has been collected since the beginning of this year. Read full story
- Vietnam is among the six ASEAN economies forecast to grow by 4.2% in 2023, outpacing the global gross domestic product (GDP) growth of 2%, according to Maybank Group president and chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Khairussaleh Ramli.
Opening the ongoing hybrid conference Maybank Invest ASEAN 2023 themed “ASEAN Reboot: Reimagining The Future” held by Maybank in Singapore from June 20-21, Ramli emphasised the resilience of ASEAN after the COVID-19 pandemic. Read full story
- The Lao media reported on June 20 that the Vietnamese government has provided a grant of more than 2.1 million USD for the construction of a new secondary school in Xienghon district, Xayaboury province of Laos.
The former school has been demolished and preparations are being made to start construction of the new one, it said. Read full story

The film revolves around conflicts between a middle-aged Vietnamese immigrant woman and her Americanised adult daughter over the best way to honour her late husband in his second death anniversary. Read full story
- An ancient ritual will be reenacted from June 21 at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel in Hanoi, as part of the celebration of the Doan Ngo Festival (which take place on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month).
During the Later Le Dynasty (1533 - 1789), kings hosted a ritual to give fans to all the mandarins during the Doan Ngo Festival in summer. Read full story./.
