- Chinese Premier Li Qiang chaired an official welcome ceremony for VietnamesePrime Minister Pham Minh Chinh who is on an official visit to the country. Afterthe welcome ceremony, the two government leaders held talks. Read full story

- Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son and his Chinese counterpart Qin Gang discussedmeasures to further promote the relations between the Parties and States ofVietnam and China during their meeting in Beijing on June 25.

Son, who is accompanying Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on an official visit toChina, underlined that Vietnam attaches great importance to developing thecomprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with China, which is a toppriority in Vietnam’s external policy of independence, self-reliance,multilateralisation and diversification of foreign relations. - President of the Swiss National Council Martin Candinas’s official visit toVietnam from June 27-30 is to strengthen the good cooperation between the twocountries, and consolidate the good relationship between their two legislativebodies, Swiss Ambassador Thomas Gass told the Vietnam News Agency on the thresholdof the visit. - Officials of Vietnam and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM)have voiced support for stronger cooperation in ASEAN to improve the access ofmigrants, especially transboundary ones, to healthcare services.

An international conference was held in Hanoi on June 26 by the VietnameseMinistry of Health and the ASEAN Secretariat with support from the IOM and theWorld Health Organisation (WHO). The armed attacks on the headquarters of the People’s Committees of Ea Tieu andEa Ktur communes of Cu Kuin district, the Central Highlands province Dak Lak,early on June 11 caused heavy human losses and negatively affected localsecurity and order. Doosan Enerbility company has signed agreements with three companies operatingthermal power plants in Vietnam to promote an environmentally friendly fuelconversion project. Legislature scrutinises specialised court model at int’l financial centre

Establishing a specialised court at the International Financial Center is necessary to institutionalise the Party’s policies and conclusions of the competent authorities. The court aims to provide a fast and effective mechanism for resolving disputes arising from business and investment activities at the centre.

PM pushes comprehensive financing for Mekong Delta climate response

Land subsidence, landslides, flooding, drought, and saltwater intrusion have directly affected the livelihoods and daily lives of people in the Mekong Delta that accounts for 12.8% of the country’s area and nearly 18% of its population, and contributes 95% of the nation’s rice exports, 60% of its aquatic exports, and 65% of its fruit exports.
