- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Wang Ning, member of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Secretary of the Yunnan provincial Party Committee, in Kunming city on November 6 as part of his ongoing trip to the neighbouring country.
The two sides rejoiced at the positive developments of the relations between the two Parties and countries, and compared notes on measures to step up cooperation between Vietnamese ministries, agencies, and localities and Yunnan in the time ahead. Read full story
- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Masatsugu Asakawa in Kunming on November 6, within the framework of his attendance at the eighth Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Summit and working trip to China.
On behalf of the Vietnamese Government and people, Chinh thanked the bank for providing crucial funding for socio-economic development projects, and for its positive contributions to poverty reduction efforts in Vietnam. Read full story
- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met separately with Chinese leading infrastructure and energy corporations in Kunming on November 6 to bolster bilateral cooperation in the areas.
The meetings took place as part of his ongoing trip to China to attend the eighth Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Summit, the 10th Ayeyawady - Chao Phraya - Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) Summit, and the 11th Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Vietnam Cooperation Summit, and to hold bilateral activities in the neighbouring country. - The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on November 5 issued a plan to carry out the Prime Minister’s Directive No.30, dated August 29, 2024, on the development of cultural industries.
The plan set forth key tasks for the ministry, including building and submitting to competent authorities a strategy for the development of cultural industries by 2030, with a vision to 2045; stepping up disseminations to raise public awareness of their position and role in socio-economic development; and making, completing, and proposing necessary and appropriate mechanisms and policies. - Vietnam posted a trade surplus of 23.31 billion USD during January-October, reported the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s General Statistics Office (GSO).
October alone witnessed a significant surge in trade activity, with the total value of foreign trade reaching 69.19 billion USD. This marks a substantial 5.1% increase from the previous month and a 11.8% year-on-year growth. Read full story
- Vietnam's Consumer Price Index (CPI) in October increased by 0.33% compared to September and by 2.89% year-on-year, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).

- Hanoi attracted 58.4 million USD in foreign direct investment (FDI) in October, bringing the total in the first ten months of this year to 1.6 billion USD.
According to the municipal People’s Committee, over 1.1 billion USD was poured into 233 new projects in the January – October period, while 184 million USD was added to 160 existing projects, and 208 million USD was spent by foreign investors through contributing capital and purchasing shares.
