- Vietnam’s high-ranking leaders on November 7 sent their congratulations to Donald John Trump on his election as President of the US.

- Party General Secretary To Lam had a working session in Hanoi on November 7 with the Party Civil Affairs Board of the Ministry of Justice on the occasion of the Vietnam Law Day (November 9).

Lam acknowledged, appreciated, and congratulated the achievements and results that the ministry and the justice sector have gained over the past years. Read full story

- Developing relations with China is a consistent policy, an objective requirement, a strategic choice, and a top priority in Vietnam's foreign policy, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh told Chinese Premier Li Qiang at their talks in Kunming city in China’s Yunnan province on November 7.

The talks took place on the occasion of the Vietnamese Government leader’s attendance at the 8th Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Summit. Read full story

- Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh joined leaders of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and China as well as heads of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and regional and international organisations at the 8th Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) Summit which opened in Kunming city in China’s Yunnan province on November 7.

Looking back on the development journey of the GMS over the past 30 years, the leaders highly valued the significant contributions of this cooperation mechanism to the development of the Mekong sub-region, particularly in the areas of transport infrastructure, energy, telecommunications, and enhancing industrial and agricultural production capacities. - President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel on November 6 expressed his appreciation for Vietnamese businesses investing in the Caribbean island nation, including Thai Binh Corporation.

Receiving the corporation’s President Tran Thanh Tu in Havana, he spoke highly of the specific directions and innovative ideas proposed by this company, affirming the willingness to strengthen the Cuba-Vietnam relations, as well as cooperation in mutually beneficial development areas. - Vietnam supports the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA)’s reforms aimed at enhancing the efficiency and transparency of this organisation’s operations, Minister Counsellor Nguyen Hoang Nguyen, deputy head of the Permanent Delegation of Vietnam to the United Nations (UN), said on November 6.

Addressing the UNGA’s debate on this issue in New York, Nguyen stressed that reforming its operations is crucial in improving the UN’s overall effectiveness and strengthening its ability to respond to growing global challenges. Read full story

- Since the establishment of the Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Vietnam (CLMV) cooperation mechanism, Vietnam has consistently acted as an active and responsible member, making significant contributions to the mechanism.

Vietnam actively proposes and implements new ideas, contributing to building important documents, initiating and promoting projects, and providing development support for member countries, including the CLMV Scholarship Fund which provides 20 scholarships each year to students from CLMV countries to foster high-quality human resources training for the sub-region. - The steering committee for the search, collection, identification of fallen soldiers’ remains (Steering Committee 515) of the southern province of Tay Ninh on November 6 signed an agreement to coordinate the search and repatriation of martyrs’ remains during the 2024–2025 dry season with the specialised committees of five provinces of Cambodia.

The five Cambodian provinces are Banteay Meanchey, Oddar Meanchey, Siem Reap, Kampong Cham, and Tboung Khmum. Read full story

- A photo exhibition spotlighting Vietnamese heritages recognised by UNESCO through cinematic footage kicked off in Hanoi on November 7 as part of the 7th Hanoi International Film Festival 2024.

- Vietnam welcomed more than 14.1 million international tourists in the first 10 months of 2024, an increase of 41.3% year on year, according to the latest report from the General Statistics Office (GSO).

Favourable visa policies, stronger tourism promotion programmes, and winning several prestigious international tourism awards have all contributed to drawing more foreign visitors to the country. Read full story

- Both pilots involved in a military aircraft crash, which occurred during a training flight over Tay Xuan commune in the south central province of Binh Dinh’s Tay Son district on November 6, were found safe at night of the same day.

The two pilots were reported to be in stable condition and have been brought down from the mountain. Read full story

- The retail petrol prices were adjusted up from 3pm on November 7 by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance.

Specifically, the price of E5RON92 bio-fuel increased by 336 VND to no more than 19,744 VND (0.78 USD) per litre, while that of RON95-III was capped at 20,854 VND per litre, up 351 VND./. Read full story
