Hung Yen (VNA) – Goods-oriented agriculture development and promoted-agriculture restructuring have significantly helped the northern province of Hung Yen reap fruitful results in its socio-economic development in 2015.

The locality recorded a growth expansion of 2.4 percent in the year, with budget collection reaching nearly 7.9 trillion VND (355.5 million USD) and export value hitting over 2.4 billion USD.

According to Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Phong, positive achievements in 2015 will be a motivation for the locality to realise its strategic objectives in 2016.

Local authorities aim to earn over 11 trillion VND and 90 trillion VND from agriculture and industry, respectively. The locality hopes to increase its export turnover to 2.8 billion USD, create jobs for about 21,000 labourers and pull the rate of poor households down to 2 percent in the year.

They will continue implementing a plan of agricultural restructuring, focusing on breeding, aquaculture and local specialities, and developing breeding and cultivation areas for export.

The locality will also pay attention to developing the agricultural value chain, enhancing the application of science and technology in production, building trademarks, and promoting local specialities.

It will strive to increase the number of communes fulfilling the 19 criteria set out for new-style rural areas to 50 in 2016 from 32 at present, and over 100 by 2020.

Apart from investing in agriculture, local authorities will work to attract more investments, develop high-tech and modern industry, and continue building an urban infrastructure system, especially industrial facilities.

The province expects to raise its yearly industrial production index 10 percent by 2020.-VNA
