Agrotourism thriving in Lai Chau
A strawberry and sunflower farm offering sales and tourism activities has become a popular destination in Than Uyen district in the northwestern mountainous province of Lai Chau.
Do Van Tuan, a local farmer in Than Uyen district, Lai Chau province, has provided experiential tours to visitors since April 2019. His tours allow travellers to try out farmers’ lives by picking fruit or taking instagrammable photos of vibrant sunflowers on his farm.
Do Van Tuan’s farm covers an area of over 5,000 square metres and is divided into two parts - one for strawberries and one for sunflowers. Both are in season at the moment, as sunflowers are in full bloom while strawberries are ready to be harvested. They earn Tuan two incomes, from sales and tourism activities.
He earned 40 to 65 USD a day prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. Times are now different but he is ready to welcome tourists again./.
