Vietnam on November 5 won three more gold medals to retain second place, after China, in the Asian Indoor Games (AIG) tally, bringing the total to 24 golds, 20 silvers and 17 bronzes.

Dang Dinh Tien bagged a gold in the men’s singles 1-cushion carom event while the women’s Pencak Silat team snagged another gold for the host country.

The Vietnamese women’s Pencak Silat team, consisting of Vu Thi Thao, Nguyen Thi Binh and Nog Thi Quyen, scored 449 points, followed by Brunei with 423 points to net the silver medal and Malaysia with 394 points to take home the bronze.

The third gold for Vietnam came on the sixth day of the AIG, was won by Nguyen Thi Hien in the pentanque women’s singles event.

At the Pencak Silat event, Malaysia’s Samsuddin won the gold medal for men’s singles, followed by Nguyen Viet Anh from Vietnam and Haji Durahman Haij MD Khairul Bahr from Brunei.

Nguyen Thanh Bao, Lai Ly Huynh and Nguyen Tran Do Ninh, as a team, finished the Chinese chess competition with a silver medal in the men’s division. The Chinese team won the gold in the event./.
