The air force commanders ASEAN member countries on June 14 jointly signed an agreement to maintain peace and stability in Southeast Asia.

The agreement was inked in the framework of the eight ASEAN Air Forces Commanders Meeting that took place in Phetchaburi province, Thailand, from June 13-16.

Addressing the event, the Thai Air Force Commander Ittiporn Subhawong said the agreement will focus on deploying humanitarian activities, overcoming natural disasters, fighting terrorism, boosting aviation safety and exchanging researches in the national defence industry between ASEAN member countries.

He stressed that this year’s meeting aims to strengthen relations and promote cooperation between the air forces of the members Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

On the occasion, delegates to the meeting also reached an agreement on mechanism and method to seek solutions for security issues in the region.
