Hanoi (VNA) – Air New Zealand has announced it will continue operating direct flights between Auckland and Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City.

The airline said in 2018, it will run two weekly flights connecting the two destinations on every Tuesdays and Saturdays, using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

Chief Revenue Officer of Air New Zealand Cam Wallace said after pilot flights in 2016, passengers from New Zealand showed their excitement about Vietnam.

According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, from January to July 2017, the number of New Zealanders to Vietnam soared by 119.5 percent from the same period last year to 27,203.

The number of Vietnamese visiting New Zealand was also on the rise, hitting over 6,000 in 2016.
