Airbus A350 XWB, the latest edition of the wide-bodied civil model made by giant French aircraft maker Airbus, performed a demo flight in Hanoi on November 22, as part of its 11-day tour around Asia.

Transport Minister Dinh La Thang and Airbus Chief Executive Officer Tom Enders were among few select passengers on board.

National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines ordered 10 A350 WWB aircraft from Airbus and will hire four others from the third party. Once the first plane is delivered to Vietnam Airlines in mid-2015, it is due to fly the route between Hanoi and Paris .

After flying across Seoul , Tokyo and Hanoi , A350 XWB will head into the skies of Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur next week before returning to Airbus headquarters in Toulouse.

With 750 orders from around the world already coming in, including 244 from Asia, the 369-seat aircraft is made of 53 percent of composite materials that enable it to save fuel and fly 14,816km non-stop.

It seats four abreast in the 42-seat business class sections and nine abreast in the two economy cabins, offering all passengers entertainment boxes and bigger baggage compartments.-VNA
