Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam Airlines has resumed the operation of all flights from/to airports in localities affected by Typhoon Doksuri, which landed in the central region on September 15 and devastated many localities from Nghe An to Thua Thien-Hue.

A representative of the airline said that in September 15-16, Vietnam Airlines has increased the number of flights to eight, using larger aircraft to meet passengers’ demand.

Meanwhile, Vietjet Air announced that all flights to and from airports in central region has resumed normal operation on September 16.

The airline has increased flights between Nghe An and Ho Chi Minh City as well as Thanh Hoa and Ho Chi Minh City on September 16-17.

At the same time, passengers travelling from and to Dong Hoi airport in Quang Binh are also supported to fly in Vietjet Air flights from September 16-18.

Earlier, several airlines announced the cancellation of flights to and from airports in the central coastal region on September 14 and 15 out of concern for safety due to Typhoon Doksuri, the strongest storm to hit Vietnam in many years.

Jetstar Pacific said it cancelled four flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Chu Lai (Quang Nam province) and HCM City-Dong Hoi (Quang Binh province) on late September 14 and 12 other flights on September 15 between HCM City and Thanh Hoa/Hue/Vinh (Nghe An province)/ Dong Hoi, and between Hue and Da Lat (Lam Dong province)/Dong Hoi/ Chiang Mai (Thailand).
